Who Wants to Take Your Bacon?

Bacon dates to the days of the Romans, but you can find it just about everywhere these days, whether or not it's on the plate. Bacon lip balm? Check. Bacon vodka? Check. Bacon salt, bacon toothpaste, bacon mints? Check, check, check.

But nothing beats the real deal, whether you like it soggy or crispy. Unfortunately, a small of group radical vegans (meaning people who don't eat or use any animal products—even Jell-O) is attacking this versatile food.

“They fried the fish with bacon and were astonished, for no fish had ever seemed so delicious before.”

— Mark Twain

— Homer Simpson

“Bits of bacon are like the fairy dust of the food community.”

— Jim Gaffigan, comedian

“Friends are like bacon bits in the salad bowl of life.”
